Studying household energy consumption: 19 essential spatial data

DOI

Household energy consumption (HEC) varies across neighbourhoods and gender groups. This database provides raw and analysed data on HEC determinants in 2707 residential neighbourhoods (Wijk) in the Netherlands in 2018. The raw data consists of 19 indicators on: (1) energy demand, i.e. annual gas and electricity consumption per head; (2) socioeconomic characteristics, i.e. gender, household size, age, income, ethnicity, and home ownership; (3) buildings, i.e. surface-to-volume ration and building age; (4) meteorological factors, i.e. cooling degree days, heating degree days, humidity, wind speed, land surface temperature; (4) land cover, i.e. Normalized difference vegetation index. The indicators are retrieved from and calculated based on open national and international datasets.
