Microbial diversity and function of HAUSGARTEN deep-sea sediments

To gain insight into a) the potential of deep-sea surface sediment bacterial assemblages to process organic matter and b) the taxonomic and functional variation across these assemblages, we analyzed a collection of multi-omic data sets. We generated 16S rRNA gene amplicon libraries, as well as metagenomic and -transcriptomic datasets from samples collected along a benthic depth gradient from 1,200 m to 5,500 m at the Arctic long-term ecological research station HAUSGARTEN.
