The proposed experiment addresses the dynamics of surfactants in amphiphile/water systems during the topological transition, with a focus on the membrane with non-lamellae architectures, e.g. cubic phase . We here choose hexadecyl hexa(oxyethylene glycol) as the model system. With increasing temperature, it undergoes several topological states. Especially, it undergoes a hexagonal - cubic - lamellae phase transitions via heating while the cooling results a different lamellae-rhombohedral-hexagonal route. Though, the transition enthalpies are identical. Surfactant dynamics in 35ps time scale will be measured in all its topologies by using 17.4micro-eV resolution at IRIS. The results shall provides details on the dynamics in different membrane topologies, especially with peculiar information for the two intermediate states of the hexagonal-lamellae transition.
