We discovered a new compound YbCu4Ga8 and the available laboratory single crystal data shows that it crystallizes in the tetragonal system. The asymmetric unit contains one Yb atom resides at 2a position and the other three positions (8i, 8j and 8f) are shared by Cu and Ga atoms. The refinement converged to the residuals R1 = 0.0302 and wR2 = 0.1181. One challenge here is difficult to distinguish Cu and Ga atoms using X-ray diffraction data because of the very small difference in scattering power. Neutron diffraction analysis can help because of the small but significant difference in scattering length between Cu and Ga. Magnetic susceptibility data of YbCu4Ga8 shows interesting magnetic behavior over wide range of temperature whose origin we don¿t understand at this moment. To achieve our science goal, we ask for 6 days on SXD to carry out temperature dependent ND study on YbCu4Ga8.
