Neutron Diffraction investigation of multiferroic MOFs

DOI

This proposal aims to investigate multiferroic properties in a new class of materials, a blend between organic and inorganic chemistry, called metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). For some of these compounds a new mechanism for magnetoelectric (ME) coupling has been proposed. The key objectives of this proposal are the following:- determination of the magnetic structure of selected MOFs;- testing of the newly proposed ME mechanism. If confirmed, this latter would open new ways to the realization of future devices, hopefully circumventing intrinsic limitations of currently available materials.
