Magnetic excitations in a pure Fe3+ pyrochlore lattice (FeF3) ¿ A classic spin liquid?

DOI

We propose to study the powder averaged spin fluctuations in a S=5/2 pryochlore - FeF3. Previous studies, corroborated by our own diffraction work on WISH, have measured that only half of the spins order. We propose to measure the inelastic response at base temperature (in the ordered state) and also as a function of temperature. The system represents a model classic geometrically frustrated magnet. The entire proposals requests 5 days of time on MARI.
