This beamtime request is part of a long term project based on the liquids diffractometer SANDALS and aimed at developing the use of Paris-Edinburgh press for liquids and in trasmisison geometry. From what we have learnt about the complexities of the system, we would like to request 8 days of beamtime to undertake a feasibility study. This is a high resource experimental test, since it will require a small amount of development of pre-sample collimation for the sample and cell, plus the support of Matt Tucker for his Paris-Edinburgh cell experience. If however we can demonstrate that acceptable data can be collected on SANDALS, it would open up a number of exciting scientific opportunities for the instrument. For this purpose, 8 days have been approved by Phil King (in an e-mail to Daniel Bowron) off the SANDALS beamtime allocation.
