Maturity analysis of the Rhone Valley vineyards since 1969

This dataset includes maturity analyses of grapevine berries from plots of Rhone Valley vineyards since 1969.

These data are provided by Inter Rhône, ODG Châteauneuf du Pape, and are evolving and enriched each year.

Each week, 200-berry samples are collected among an identified single row on the selected plots. The sampling routine starts around two weeks after the veraison stage (BBCH 85) and happens every Monday until the grapes are harvested by the winegrowers. This methodology allows following the different dynamics of various quality and yield variables during the whole ripening period. Thereby, the date of the last sample of a plot in the season matches the harvest day with a maximum error of 6 days. On a weekly routine, 200 berries are picked randomly among an identified single row of the plot. Samples are processed in the wine lab the same day or the day after. For a given plot visited every week, the last sample matches - with a 6-day accuracy - the real harvest date and may be called “just prior to harvest” sample.

The dataset is structured as followed: each new week of analysis on a plot corresponds to a new row in the table. The columns contain information on the date of the measurements, plot-specific information and the values of the different measurements carried out.
