Recently we have synthesized and investigated three new ternary intermetallic compounds PrTSi3 (T = Ir, Rh and Ru) which form in BaNiSn3-type tetragonal structure (space group I4mm). The magnetic susceptibility data exhibit well pronounced anomaly in all these compounds. While in PrIrSi3 transition occurs at 12.2 K, in PrRuSi3 it occurs near 8.5 K. The specific heat data also confirm these transitions in PrIrSi3 and PrRuSi3. On the other hand PrRhSi3 exhibits two magnetic transitions at 6.6 K and 14.2 K in the susceptibility, but no clear anomaly in the heat capacity. Since these compounds lack inversion symmetry in their crystal structure it will be of interest to know the CEF ground state. We therefore propose an inelastic neutron scattering study to investigate CEF excitations and the CEF ground state of PtTSi3 compounds on MARI to understand the origin of the magnetic ground state.
