Mixed surfactants for dialable organogels

DOI

The idea is to be able to ¿dial-up¿ the length and properties of CO2-philic and organo-philic rod-like micelles. This proposal aims to explore mixed surfactant systems in organic solvents, to investigate the effect on surfactant aggregate structures in easy to assess room-temperature liquids, prior to a future submission to study parallel systems in CO2. Preliminary SANS data (Figure 1) have been obtained detailing the effect of water content on aggregate structure in organic solvents, and now a one day slot is required for further experiments investigating chain ratios and their effects on aggregate structures. This is part of the Next Generation Facility User grant ¿Neutron scattering studies of CO2-based gels¿ (EP/F020686) and the PhD is co-investigator SC.
