Spin wave in Nd2CuO4-- Determination of the magnetic exchange couplings of the parent compound of electron-doped copper oxide superconductor

DOI

Since the discovery of high transition temperature (high Tc) copper oxide, many efforts have been made on the understanding of its electronic and magnetic properties. Although it is well known that the parent compounds of these high Tc superconductors are long-range order antiferromagnets, there is no consensus even on the simplest effective Hamiltonian needed for describing their parent compounds (usually described as Mott-Hubbard insulators). Although much is known about the fundamental Hamiltonian for the parent compounds of hole-doped copper oxides, it is equally important to determine whether such cyclic exchange and large spin wave damping are also present for electron doped parent compounds. Therefore, we propose to perform high-energy inelastic neutron scattering experiment on Nd2CuO4.
