Structural Studies of Li(ND3)n11BD4

DOI

On exposure to ammonia, Li(11)BD4 forms the ammoniate Li(11)BD4(ND3)n. Our recent experiment (RB820252) has shown that there are four distinct crystalline phases in the decomposition of n=4 to n=1. However due to overlap with Bragg peaks from the steel reactor vessel of the IGAn we where unable to solve the crystal structures for the n=3 and n=4 phases. The IGAn fitted with the quartz reactor vessel will allow us now to solve these two phases. Our proposal consists of the experiments: Reaction of Li(11)BD4 with ammonia followed by desorption and decomposition of the formed ammoniate
