The effect of magnetic structure on ordred/disordered IrMn3 exchange-biasing layers

DOI

The exchange biasing effect in the thin film IrMn3/Fe depends strongly on the degree of structural ordering of the underling antiferromagnetic IrMn3 pinning layer. In this work we propose to employ polarised neutron reflectivity to determine the magnetic depth profile for both ordered and disordered IrMn3/Fe thin film in an attempt to understand the correlation between magnetic ordering and the effect it has on the AF/FM interface which in turns govern the exchange biasing effect.
