SANS studies on the structures of non-ionic surfactant micelles with/without solubilised pesticides and waxes

DOI

SANS is about the only technique that can determine the size and shape of surfactant micelles and the subsequent changes upon pesticide solubilisation. The aim of this work is first to understand how the micellar structures of non-ionic C12E6 surfactants are affected by pesticide solubilisation and then follow further structural changes upon exposure of the pesticide loaded micelles to plant waxes. Understanding these molecular processes is important to pesticide formulation. We request 3 days of SANS beamtime on LOQ to complete the proposed measurements involving the use of partially deuterated surfactants to improve the sensitivity and resolution essential for unravelling the structural details in the multicomponent micellar systems.
