This dataset contains data on networks of relationships between intellectuals, organizations, and events related to the Ibero-American film field. Specifically, we reconstruct a network among Ibero-American film clubs and the personal networks of three women: the Argentinean intellectual Victoria Ocampo, the Spanish journalist María Luz Morales, and the Mexican photographer Lola Álvarez Bravo. This dataset allows us to explore the relationships of the aforementioned actors with other intellectuals, events and organizations by expanding the range of their relationships and activities via the “follow the actor” tenet of Bruno Latour’s Actor-Network Theory. The files contain the necessary data to reproduce the visualizations included in the PhD thesis entitled “Networks of Empowerment: Women in the Early Ibero-American Film Clubs (1909 to 1959)”, authored by Ainamar Clariana-Rodagut (please see chapters 2.3, 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3). These visualizations are also available online in their interactive version at [https://global-ls.github.io/filmculture-socnet/]. The visualizations have been created using the open graph visualization software Gephi 0.10.1, (https://gephi.org/), but can be obtained with any other network visualization tool.
