Solvent and drug diffusion in supramolecular gels

DOI

This proposal addresses issues related to understanding drug diffusion in supramoleculargels with view at fundamental pharmacological questions for drug delivery. Preliminary data from IN6 (ILL) and LET indicate a small but systematic difference in the diffusion of the solvent withinsupramolecular gel samples compared to the diffusion in the corresponding pure solventsamples. We hypothesize that this trend is due to soft micro-confinement effects and we now propose to verify this trend by measuring a second solvent system on LET. In addition, we wish to measure new samples withthe model drug ibuprofen sodium load. The results from these experiment will directly influence the understanding of supramolecular gels as drug delivery vehicles.
