Investigation of the excitation spectrum in the 1D distorted diamond chain Azurite

DOI

We propose to investigate the excitation spectrum of azurite in both zero field and applied fields up to 7T. Using inelastic neutrons on OSIRIS we hope to clearly resolve the dispersive low energy excitations and reveal quantitatively the relative exchange interactions in the 1-dimensional distorted diamond chain. The motivation for this study is the tripartite nature of the underlying lattice which can support exotic quantum behaviours.
