An In-Situ Study of the Formation of Amyloid Fibrils at Polymer Surfaces Using Off-Specular Neutron Reflectivity

DOI

We propose to study the formation of lateral features during insulin amyloid formation on polymer substrates using off-specular neutron reflectivity. This will be done by studying the changes after short heat-quench cycles with longer off specular measurements. To increase our off-specular intensity we are planning on using a resonant neutron cavity formed from hydrogenated and deuterated polymers. This development should if successful allow future experiments using this system to obtain the real-time off-specular data we desire to eventually obtain.
